REPENTENCE

RELATIONSHIP

REDEMPTION:

The dictionary defines redemption as: 1. the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. 2. the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.

Redemption is used in both the Old and New Testaments.  In the Old Testamant redemption involves deliverance from bondage based on the payment of a price by a redeemer.  Redemption in the New Testament refers to the work of Christ on our behalf where He purchases and ransoms us at  the price of his own life which than secures our deliverance from the bondage and condemnation of sin after accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior.  To learn more about this click here.

Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)

"7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

John 3:16 (KJV)

"16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

REPENTANCE:

The dictionary defines repentance as: 1. deep sorrow, compunction, or contrition for a past sin, wrongdoing, or the like. 2. regret for any past action.

Proof in our lives of creating a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is repenting of our sins.  Upon coming to Christ, you might not be asked to give up everything you struggle with immediately, but repentance is key in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ!

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (NLT)

"9 Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way. 10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death."

Colossians 3:1-3 (NIV)
"1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."

RELATIONSHIP:

The dictionary defines relationship as: 1. a connection, association, or involvement. 2. connection between persons by blood or marriage.

After we have accepted our Redemption in Christ and Repented of our sins we need to seek the Lord and have a relationship with Him.  We need to strive to hang out with Him and have a connection and be involved with the Kingdom day by day.  The closer you get to Christ, the more you will automatically distance yourself from sin you will progressively become a stronger asset to the kingdom of God that lasts for eternity.  The Relationship with Christ is everything!

Mark 12:33 (NLT)

"33 And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law.”

Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV)

"28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.""

James 4:8 (KJV)

"8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."
